Veneers provide immediate and noticeable results making them one of the most popular cosmetic procedures to enhance your smile. Teeth that are chipped, misshapen, or discoloured can be corrected using veneers.

Veneers are a permanent restoration and cannot be reversed.

What are porcelain veneers?

Veneers are thin tooth coloured strips of porcelain that is bonded to the front of teeth to give the appearance of no imperfections. Porcelain veneers are stain resistant, so there is no need to worry about them becoming discoloured.

What happens during the procedure?

When being fitted for veneers, your dentist will remove about half a millimetre of enamel from the surface of your teeth. This also roughens the tooth surface an ensures the veneers bond correctly, and it allows for the added thickness of the veneer. An impression is taken so your customised veneers can be fabricated.

At your follow-up appointment, your dentist will place the veneers on your teeth and check the shade before cementing them into place and curing for a mini smile makeover result.

How long do veneers last?

Porcelain veneers on average last from 10-15 years.

Proper oral hygiene can help to extend the lifespan of your veneers. Chewing on hard food or ice and even your fingernails can damage your veneers.

If you grind or clench your teeth especially at night ask your dentist about a customised mouthguard to help prolong your veneer-enhanced smile.
